The Katana blade was hardened in the traditional way using an under clay coating and has a Rockwell hardness of approx. 60 degrees on the cutting edge and a hardness of approx. 40 degrees on the back.
The handle is made of wood, lined with ray skin designs and the ito of the tsuka is made of black cotton.
Two mekugis (bamboo dowels) are attached to the handle. The sword can be dismantled and is finely sharpened thus the katana is suitable for cutting exercises.
