The handle is made from torched hickory wood and is highly decorated with runes carved into the handle itself. This securely holds the axe point in place and is made from the non-stainless 1060 carbon steel. The almost unfinished surface of the steel gives the axe a very rustic character, the axe is supplied with a genuine leather blade guard.
